Arabella and Gio, who came to assist us for the second year in a row were just as gracious and welcoming to our friends and family - all 147 of them! With A Twist Bartending Services is not a company I would use again. The owner, Staci, did not address my concerns after not adhering to our written agreement. I have given her over a month to respond and she hasn’t so I feel it is fair to share what the company did good and not good. I began working With A Twist, about 11 months prior to the wedding. In that time frame, I had three different points of contact as the first two left the company. Two of the three were helpful and responsive. My issue is with the bartenders not adhering to our written agreement to not put out tip jars or QR codes. My point of contact, strongly encouraged me to then to “pre-tip” the bartenders so they knew they would not be skunked. I felt that was fair so in “good faith” I did a partial tip ahead.
The two bartenders were prompt and provided good service to our guests. However, from the start of the event, seed money was carefully tucked under the bar tending mat as my brother-in-law reported being one of the first to get a drink. He tipped not knowing our arrangement. Secondly, there was a large tip jar with several large dollar bills in it on the table behind the bar. Thirdly, a QR code sign on the bar. This violated our agreement. I would have said something but by the time I went to the bar it was late in the evening and several guests were waiting to get a drink, so I didn’t want to cause a scene plus it was done.
After the wedding, I raised this will my point of contact. She was professional and offered to follow up with the bartenders. They justified it by saying the guests asked about tipping. If they were really asked about tipping from guests, the response should have been, “The hosts are tipping.” If a guest insisted the tip could have been taken discreetly. However, this was not the case, and my guests saw the seed money, tip jar and QR code and it made them feel obligated to tip. Many guests were upset after they learned I had tipped prior and planned to tip further. The bartender’s story doesn’t jive with they were honoring the no tip jar until some guests asked. My family conveyed differently. And even if a guest asked this is not justification to put one out. I was paying the bill, and I clearly stated no tip jar multiple times, and it was in our written agreement.
I had an agreement with, With a Twist of no tip jar / QR Code and this was not honored. I had hoped by going directly to the owner after my contact responded justifying the tip jar, QR Code, etc. as the owner of the business she would have taken pride in honoring what her client requested not just allowed her hired bartenders to think it is OK to do what they want. She should have made it right with us. We have been to three weddings and one 50th wedding anniversary party this year and NONE had tip jars out so saying it is common is also inaccurate for them as justification.
It is over and done with and there is nothing I can do other than share my experience and let you decide if you want to use With A Twist. I partially added a tip in good faith. Had I known they were going to go against our agreement, I would not have used With a Twist, nor partially tipped ahead.

11/5/2024 - As a follow up, I did reach out to Staci the owner again to dispute her google response this was not done. Here is the photo of proof. If you click on the photo the QR code the bartenders put out can be seen. Glad this got captured.

She now has proof they did put the QR Code on the bar front, I am still waiting to see how she plans to make it "right" as it was a violation of our agreement. If she does make it "right" I will update the post.

I worked with Allison and Terry at With a Twist Bartending for my wedding and couldn’t have had a better experience. From the beginning, they were enjoyable and easy to work with. Everything from putting together my initial quote to taking my calls to talk through different ideas or questions I had, they were wonderful through it all. They were always prompt to respond to questions I had and even worked with me to rent water glassware and carafes for tables which was an amazing help. I just generally trusted them a lot with everything which was so refreshing and took a lot of stress off of me! I also had a lot of our guests comment on how nice our bartending team was at the wedding so that was also amazing to hear. Such a great service! I hired With a Twist for my small wedding in Southern Maine, and they did a wonderful job. Our bartender was prompt, kind, and made great drinks for all of the guests.

I recently worked with With A Twist Bartending for my wedding event, hiring three bartenders.

One bartender no call no showed, one bartender left early and threw up in my lobby multiple times without cleaning up causing me to pay an additional venue fine.

Only 1/3 of our guests received champagne negatively impacting our toast. The owner states it was not paid for but was clearly outlined in my invoice.

Due to only having one bartender and all of the craziness, the one bartender thought we ran out of liquor causing us to have to make another $1600 liquor run which we did not use and now cannot return.

While I was compensated for the bartenders who were not present, I highly suggest looking elsewhere if you are wanting professional service.

The owner lacks communication skills, is unprofessional, unapologetic, and caused additional and unnecessary stress on an already stressful day.

Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided.
